Well, here's a book to read before Christmas if I ever saw one! Remember my Mommy melt-down picture at the very beginning of our Christmas shopping posts?
We still have WAY too many 'things' around the house. Huff and Puff don't see it that way, and they go out to find more stuff (in easy rhyming stanzas, no less.) Soon, they can't even move all their stuff! Fortunately, they find a farmer who does need stuff, and they give it all to him, deciding that having each other is - enough!
Instead of pairing this up as a gift, try giving it as an early Christmas present. Decorate a couple boxes like Huff and Puff, and challenge the kids to fill them with 'stuff' they would like to give away...then chug those trains to the car for your next trip to the thrift shop! The boxes can even return to the house to be played with (or in!) for days to come - and, when they inevitable fall apart, that's even less stuff hanging around!
