Review: Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake

This:
Anna Dressed in Blood

was one of the best scary books I have ever read. Intense, creepy, action-packed but with interesting characters, too. Just the right amount of gore and surprises that make you check that your back is against something solid and the lights are all on before you continue reading. I was excited to hear there was a sequel coming out:

and I ordered it right away. Then I read a review, however - I couldn't even tell you whose, now - that called it disappointing. Nothing worse than a disappointing sequel, so I didn't pick it up until this week.

Well, I don't know who that reviewer was, but he or she is clearly insane, and ought not to be commenting on anything. Even more intense than the first, going in some different directions, but in a good way - a way that pulls the reader in deeper. And boy, does Cas get pulled in deep. As in, all the way to - well, I won't spoil that part. he's not alone, though, he has Thomas, Carmel, and - well, I won't spoil that part, too. I also won't ell you much about the plot of the sequel, because that would comepletely ruin the first book, if you haven't read it.

Which you should. Right now. And then read the sequel, and let me know, because I have a theory about the athame that I have to talk to SOMEbody about!
