Random

So, since I got to work today I have received 3 phone calls:

#1 - someone wanting to give me money (for the library, but still)

#2 - the hotel we had booked for spring break has been sold and closes next week

#3 - would I like to donate a kidney to a man in Colorado?

Should I keep answering the phone, yay or nay? And could someone please tell me where the cameras are aimed, so I don't do something embarrassing on them?

Random

We got our tax refund, and I was so excited. I bought almost everyone in the family new socks! Even me!! Seriously, I have been thinking about this, anticipating it, for over a week now. This morning, as soon as I saw the money was in fact deposited, I threw out all the old, dingy ones. My soul felt at peace. I could hardly wait for my lunch hour, so I could get to Walmart. And then the decisions...with so many similar sizes, we all have to have different styles, or laundry is just a nightmare. I got it all worked out, and practically skipped to the check-out*. Where the cashier told me she was doing essentially the same thing with her refund.

I think...yes, I think we are officially both grown-ups.

*I also bought cat food! And more coffee, even though the container we have is more than half full! I am a spending MACHINE today!

Which Way?

I found this a tiny bit confusing. Taken this morning on my lunch break.

A Timely Warning

Last night I was washing the cover to L.'s bouncy seat, and actually took a moment to read the stuff printed on the bottom:

I guess that means he'll have to give up smoking while he's sitting in it.
I'll break the news when he wakes up.

Today's Award for Taking Pride in Your Work

Really, guys? As your truck putts along at 5mph, it's just too much work to hop down and kick things off the side of the road?

Big Dog, Little Dog

Has anyone else noticed this trend? Do you see it everywhere, or is this an Alamogordo thing?

Me, I like big dogs. Golden retrievers, Great Danes, etc. Some people like small dogs (Mike calls them bear killers - poor grizzly could choke to death on a Chihuahua). For some reason, I frequently see yards around here with one of each. Is this a sign of a compromise between Mom and Dad? Or a single owner who just can't make up his mind?

These two were playing fetch with their owners in the park across from the Library today. By the time I fumbled my camera out of my purse and got it turned on, they had crossed the street and were headed home. I am extremely impressed that they are just following Mom and Dad, no leashes or dangling steak on a string. Our idiots would be halfway to Tulie! At any rate, doesn't this picture scream to be made into a picture book? Somebody else please do it, though - I can't even manage to post here regularly.
